This year’s Spring drive was blessed with great weather. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky. The morning started out in the 50’s and ended up in the 80’s. Meeting at the QT station on 1431 we saw one after another MG and Triumph pull in. There were a total of 12 cars - 9 MGs and 3 Triumphs. There was an MGTD, an MGTF, an MGB/GT, an MGC/GT, a number of MGBs, 2 Triumph TR6s and one TR3. A variety of snacks was offered to participants before the start.

The first leg of the drive involved a fast pace with minimal traffic. As we turned onto Cow Creek Road there were no cars, bikes or obstructions to hinder our progress. Winding through the countryside we passed cattle, smooth cattle guards and river crossings as we made our way through this scenic ranch road until we turned off to find our way to Burnet for our first stop at the Shell station on HW 281. After a brief restroom stop we were back on the road to Park Road 4. This road is protected by the National Historic Register due to its unique CCC construction history. This is a great treasure to be preserved. The roller coaster ride was a thrill, especially to those who have never driven it.

Completing the drive we ended up at the Trailblazer Grill in Burnet for a great meal. Only one of the Triumphs stalled and could not make the whole journey. Fortunately all of the MGs made it!
